Neuroracer is a new Cognitive Paradigm being created for Gazzaley Lab at UCSF,to enable people to train their ability to focus in the presence of distraction, with a video game.
Gaming is popular because it is fun, but what do you truly gain from all those hours playing computer games?
As lifespans increase, people want to maintain the highest possible level of cognitive function for as long as possible. What if you could improve your memory, by playing a computer game? AND, be able to prove your improvement at certain tasks using fMRI/EEG studies performed in a Cognitive Neuroscience Lab? We exercise our bodies at the gym, why not our minds too? Perhaps we just haven't figured out how to properly, which is where this Cognitive paradigm comes into play.
It's currently in development, and experiments will start soon.
